But not all hope is lost because if you contact your emergency dentist in Fort Pierce right away, your tooth can still be successfully reinserted.

Dealing with Knocked Out Teeth

Steps In Keeping Your Tooth Viable

How do you react if you discover your tooth just got knocked out? Panic is usually the first response to a knocked-out tooth. As much as possible, control your emotions. If you want to keep your tooth, stay calm and do the following:

  1. Call your emergency dentist and let them know about what happened to your tooth.
  2. Find your lost tooth, pick it up by the crown, and never the roots, to keep it viable.
  3. If it’s dirty, rinse it gently with water. Don’t scrub the dirt off with chemical solutions or detergents. Never attempt to encase the tooth with a cloth or tissue. Just leave it as it is.
  4. If you can reinsert the tooth into the socket, do it as soon as possible. Gently push the tooth using your fingers. Again, hold it by the crown and not the roots. Once it is safely inserted, close your mouth to keep the tooth in place.
  5. To keep the tooth viable, you must always keep it moist. You can either place it in the socket or put it in a clean milk container. Never soak it in tap water or distilled water, as it will kill the cells in just minutes.
  6. See an emergency dentist immediately following the accident. The earlier you see your emergency dentist, the higher your tooth’s chances of being inserted back into the socket.
