New Year’s Oral Health Resolutions

Floss!

When it’s time to floss your teeth, you always find plenty of excuses not to. Instead of saying flossing is complicated or you’re too tired to do it, force yourself and do it anyway. Sooner or later, you’ll get the habit of flossing and effortlessly incorporate it into your routine. If you make an effort to floss, you’ll significantly lower your chances of developing gum disease and tooth decay.

Brush for Two Minutes

A simple yet highly effective way of improving oral health is by brushing your teeth for a full two minutes. This year, try timing yourself to ensure you spend 30 seconds cleaning each quadrant of your mouth. The two-minute rule is backed up by science and research. If your dentist tells you to brush for two minutes, do it.

Stop Smoking

Did you know that besides getting that awful smoker’s breath, smoking tobacco will increase your likelihood of developing oral cancer? Don’t wait for that to happen. Get a head start on the new year by promising yourself to no longer smoke.
